Man, what has gotten into Austin Watson? Is his recent point production merely a lucky hot streak or has they guy perhaps turned the corner and is starting to live up to the potential that made him a 1st Round draft pick?

He has always had some skill. He is meshing well with Fisher for sure but he isn't fantasy worthy or anything. Glad to see him stepping up with all the injuries though

He has a long way to go to live up to the potential that made him a 1st-round draft pick. At least he's not a total bust, which is always the worst fear with such picks, but you generally don't draft players in the 1st round with the expectation of getting a career 3rd-liner, which I expect is still Watson's trajectory. He's already 25 years old, which is the new prime for players, and he's on pace for 8 goals on the season, after all.

I liken him to LA's Trevor Lewis, also a 1st-round draft pick who "busted" because he's never been anything more than a 3rd-liner with a ceiling of 25pts, but who's still carved out a nice NHL career as a contributing role player on winning teams, chipping in now and then and doing the little things, so it's certainly not the worst thing in the world.
